.CM Landrush Public Auctions FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is .CM? Why should I register a .CM?
.CM is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Cameroon. The .CM registry has previously only allowed registrations under .CO.CM, .COM.CM and .NET.CM, meaning this is your chance to register a second level .CM domain name. Although best known for being just one letter and keystroke away from a few of the most highly recognizable domains, .CM provides many potential benefits:
    • Secure natural traffic to your site
    • Expand your domain portfolio with available and highly valuable domains
    • Protect your brand to avoid any misleading uses of your name
    • Help battle poverty in Africa – each domain sold will contribute to multiple initiatives to grow the African market and end poverty
  • Can anyone register a .CM name?
Yes! There are no residency requirements for .CM names. You can live anywhere in the world and register a .CM domain.
  • .CM Public Auction Overview:
Minimum bid is $400 and INCLUDES the $350 2-year landrush registration fee. When joining a public auction, your bid is a PROXY bid and the bid is placed immediately as public auctions are already in progress. If no one increases the bid from the minimum $400, the first bidder to enter the public auction wins at $400. Once you enter a public auction, you cannot reduce your bid or be removed from the auction.
  • Am I immediately added to a Public Auction?
Yes. By placing a proxy bid on a public auction, you are automatically being entered into an active public auction. The minimum bid for .CM public auctions is $400 and includes the 2-year registration fee. You can increase your bid or enter a proxy bid at any time prior to the auction closing.
  • How long does a public auction last?
Users will be allowed to enter bids for the public auction until the scheduled auction end date, unless a bid is placed in the last 5 minutes of the auction. If there is a bid during the last 5 minutes of the public auction, the closing process will extend for an additional 5 minutes from the time that bid is accepted to allow for additional bids. If additional bids are received within that next 5 minute time period, the auction will continue to be extended in 5 minute increments until no further bids are received. At the conclusion of the bidding process, the highest bidder will receive the registration rights to the domain name.
  • Can I delete domains once I have entered the public auction?
No. Once you place your bid on a public auction, you cannot be removed from the auction nor can you reduce your proxy bid.
  • If I am the only one requesting a Public auction .CM name, do I pay NameJet fees?
Yes. If you are a single bidder, and no one else bids on the domain, you will automatically be awarded the domain for $400, which includes the 2-year registration fee.
  • If I enter into a multi-bidder auction at $400, and no one increases their bid, who wins?
The bidder who added the name on their list first will win at $400.
  • How can I be winning at $400 if I have not increased my bid?
Even if you do not increase your bid, if no higher bids are placed and you entered the public auction first, you will be awarded the domain and be required to pay the minimum $400 auction fee which included the 2-year Landrush registration fee.
  • What if I change my mind, can I get a refund on the .CM domains I don’t want?
No. There are no refunds. All sales are final.
  • How long do I have to pay the NameJet auction fees?
Payment for auction fees to NameJet must be paid within 7 days from the auction close date for non-verified bidders, and 14 days for Verified Bidders. As the grace period cannot be extended please do not bid if you cannot make payment in this timeframe. Become a Verified Bidder
  • Is the Registration fee included?
Yes. If you win the .CM domain, the 2-year $350 registration fee is included in the $400 auction fee.
  • Where do I manage these domains?
The .CM domain will be added to an account with eNomCentral automatically for you. An email will be sent with login and password information typically within 3 business days after your auction payment is received.
